I'm thinking that SCF should have t-shirts for Orientation this year. That way, anyone can identify a member of SCF should they have a question about SCF or something that they want to ask one of us, and we will also appear more legitimate at our first few meetings. I'm very willing to design a t-shirt and order a batch, although they will cost between $12-$15 each.
So, how's that sound? T-shirts yay or nay? What do you guys want them to say/look like? What color?
P.S. Sorry, Erik, but I've had a thing against iron-ons since my Vacation Bible School days ;P
P.P.S. And yes, if anyone else wants to design a t-shirt (someone who can actually draw, unlike me?), that would be great, too!
I like the idea. And I'm thinking Jesus fish. Like a school of them. :0)
ReplyDeleteGood. Do we have some kind of concise mission statement/verse? Idk. What would be AMAZING is if we could get one of our lovely scf artists to design something that embodies our vision? I'm really a fan of the artsy designs.
ReplyDeleteI'd wear one!
ReplyDelete^We do have a vision statement, but it's not concise enough to fit on a t-shirt (as far as I know). I copied it below if anyone wants to make an art interpretation of it...
SCF vision statement 2010-011
Through God’s help, we hope to foster a community that:
• Continuously intercedes on behalf of Swarthmore campus through focused, persistent and expectant prayer.
• Fully equips witnesses and sends them out to live missional lives
• Sustains Christ-centered transformation through mentorship
sweet. i like this idea.
ReplyDeleteas for vision statement, the shirts would be more universal (time wise. next year?) if we stayed with something simple and all encompassing. vision statements change.
therefore, maybe something more Jesus centered? i like the verse idea
and andrew, while you may not be able to draw, you sure as hell know what you're doing with graphic design. don't be modest, please, because i would wear any shirt you designed.
Heyo, I like the idea of shirts, I think. Not to be that steryotypical nondom, either, but I do think we should pray about it b/c I can also see a lot of problems w shirts. I felt very convicted all of highschool not to wear "christian" labels and gear, so, let's ask God what he thinks. And Andrew: don't be fooled, self deprication is not modesty or humility. But I do think others should submit designs, to.
ReplyDeleteTHUMBS DOWN TO IRON ONS!
ReplyDeleteAll right, I just said that to bug Erik. Nice to see y'all in the internet. I'm commenting mostly to tell y'all that I'm also keeping a blog on blogspot! Check it out: http://moretracks.blogspot.com/

Yay for T-shirts. I'm open to ideas... I know we have some creative peeps here, so I'm excited to see the product.
ReplyDeleteI also like having a verse on the shirt and keeping it neat and chic :)
Honestly, I usually don't wear 'Christian' attire because I am in favor of actions vs words, but if the purpose is for others to be able to approach us to ask questions and to help let others know about SCF during NSO, I'm good with that!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't have much color sense. I do like the idea of a verse, but I don't think we need to have too much writing on it (no need to put the whole vision statement).
I can't remember why we went with iron-ons. It might have been my fault for messing up something or because we thought it would be cheaper... Maybe it was because none of us could come up with a satisfactory design in the days before good graphic artists like Andrew Cheng came along.
